Terms of Service

1.1 Age Requirements

Academy is designed for students aged 14 and above. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf, or that you are accessing Academy through an authorized educational institution.

1.2 Account Creation

To use Academy, you must sign in using a Google or Apple account (OAuth). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication credentials. You agree to provide accurate information, including birth details used for your Cosmic Blueprint personalization.

1.3 One Account Per Person

Each individual may maintain only one Academy account. Creating multiple accounts to abuse the credit system, circumvent verification, or game the platform is prohibited and may result in account termination.

2.1 What Academy Provides

Our Services include:

• Personalized learning experiences in chemistry and other subjects
• Cognitive archetype identification via the Cosmic Blueprint assessment
• Sathi — an adaptive AI learning companion that personalizes teaching style
• Curated video lessons, interactive quizzes, and mastery assessments
• Cross-domain homework connecting chemistry to other subjects
• A credit economy that rewards original thinking and creation
• Student content creation tools (visual explanations, video walkthroughs)

2.2 Cosmic Blueprint Disclaimer

The Cosmic Blueprint uses Vedic astrological principles to generate a personalized learning profile (cognitive archetype). This feature is for educational personalization purposes only. It is not a scientifically validated psychometric assessment, nor is it intended as astrological, medical, or psychological advice.

While we strive for high availability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Services may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. All learning progress is auto-saved.

3.1 Two-Bucket Credit System

Academy uses a two-bucket credit system. When you purchase credits, 100% goes to your Available Credits (spending balance). JyoLing matches 50% into a separate Reward Pool. Reward Pool credits are locked until earned through verified original thinking on concept questions.

3.2 Free Allocation

Every new student receives a free credit allocation sufficient for the Cosmic Blueprint assessment, the first course module, and initial Sathi interactions. No payment is required to begin learning.

3.3 Earning Credits

Credits can be earned through two mechanisms:

• Answering: Verified original answers to concept questions transfer credits from the Reward Pool to Available Credits
• Creating: Original content (visual explanations, videos, peer teaching) earns new credits generated by the platform

3.4 Spending Credits

Credits from Available Credits may be spent on AI features including Sathi questions, hints, AI-generated visuals, rescue sessions, and practice problems. Specific costs are displayed before each interaction.

3.5 Sharing Credits

Students aged 14 and above may share credits from their Available Credits with other users. Reward Pool credits cannot be shared. Sharing with existing users includes a 25% kickback to the sender. Referral sharing (new users) includes a 50% kickback.

3.6 Purchase Terms

• All prices are in USD unless otherwise specified
• Credits are non-refundable once used
• Unused credits do not expire while your account remains active
• Purchases include an automatic 50% Reward Pool match
• Payment is processed through secure third-party processors
• Prices may change with 30 days notice

3.7 Anti-Gaming Policy

The credit earning system includes verification to ensure genuine original thinking. Submitting AI-generated, copied, or plagiarized answers to earn Reward Pool credits is prohibited. Detection results in locked credits remaining in the Reward Pool — not punishment, but a prompt to re-attempt with genuine reasoning.

3.8 School & Institutional Licenses

Schools purchasing bulk credits receive allocations distributed to student accounts. Institutional administrators may access aggregate engagement metrics (Reward Pool depletion rates, creation rates) but not individual student conversations with Sathi.

4.1 Nature of Sathi

Sathi is an AI-powered learning companion that adapts its teaching style to each student's cognitive archetype. Sathi's responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may occasionally contain errors. Sathi is an educational tool, not a substitute for professional instruction.

4.2 Guardrails for Minors

Sathi operates within strict educational guardrails:

• Cannot discuss topics outside the course curriculum
• Cannot be manipulated into generating harmful, inappropriate, or off-topic content
• Does not store conversations beyond the current session for free-tier users
• Paid-tier session memory is encrypted, never shared, and deletable at any time

4.3 Credit Cost

Sathi interactions cost credits. This is deliberate — it teaches intentional AI use, not unlimited dependence. Credit costs are displayed before each interaction.

5.1 Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to access other students' accounts or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the platform's operation or security
• Use automated tools to scrape content or overload servers
• Attempt to jailbreak or manipulate Sathi beyond its educational purpose
• Share or redistribute course content without permission
• Create multiple accounts to abuse the credit system
• Harass, abuse, or harm other students
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

5.2 Student-Created Content

For original content you create on the platform (visual explanations, videos, written analyses, peer teaching sessions), you retain ownership of your creative work. You grantJyoLing a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use such content within the Academy platform for educational purposes — including showing it to other students as peer learning material.

5.3 Enforcement

Violation of these conduct rules may result in credit forfeiture, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of your account. For students using Academy through an educational institution, violations may also be reported to the institution.

6.1 Our Property

All platform content, features, and functionality — including software, algorithms, course materials, quiz content, Sathi's teaching frameworks, learning paths, user interface designs, logos, and graphics — are owned by JyoLing or our licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 Video Content

Video lessons are sourced from third-party creators and remain their intellectual property. JyoLing holds a license to display this content within Academy. You may not download, redistribute, or repurpose video content outside the platform.

6.3 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use Academy for personal, non-commercial educational purposes in accordance with these Terms.

6.4 Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works from Academy content
• Distribute, sublicense, or sell platform content
• Use content for commercial purposes
• Remove copyright or proprietary notices
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software

7.1 Data Collection

Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7.2 Student Data Protection

Academy serves minors and complies with applicable student privacy laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). We do not sell student data. We do not serve advertising.

7.3 Birth Data Usage

Birth details (date, time, location) are used solely to generate the Cosmic Blueprint learning profile. This data is encrypted at rest, never sold to third parties, and anonymized when processed by AI services.

7.4 AI Processing

Sathi uses AI language models to generate educational responses. Only anonymized learning context is shared with AI providers — never personal identifiers, names, or contact information.

9.1 No Warranties

Academy is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

9.2 Educational Outcomes

We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes, test scores, or grade improvements. Academy is a supplemental learning tool that enhances — not replaces — classroom instruction.

9.3 AI Limitations

AI-generated content (including Sathi responses, archetype analysis, and verification assessments) may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. Students should exercise judgment and verify important information with their teacher.

9.4 Third-Party Content

We are not responsible for third-party content, including video lessons from external creators. Links to external websites are provided for convenience only.

10.1 Limitation of Damages

To the maximum extent permitted by law, JYOLING shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, interrupted learning progress, decisions made based on AI-generated content, or emotional distress.

10.2 Maximum Liability

Our total liability for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

11.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at legal@jyoling.com to attempt informal resolution. Most disputes can be resolved this way.

11.2 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.

11.3 Jurisdiction

Any disputes not resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Denton County, Texas, USA.

12.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support. Upon termination:

• Access to Academy ceases immediately
• Unused credits are forfeited (non-refundable)
• Data deletion follows our Privacy Policy
• Student-created content may remain on the platform for peer learning unless removal is requested

12.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent credit activity or systematic gaming
• Abuse of Sathi or other students
• Extended inactivity (12+ months — with 30 days notice)
• Legal or regulatory requirements
